In 1995 Hollywood went bigtime on Scotland with Braveheart starring Mel Gibson. In 2012 it's happening all over again with Pixar's new film Brave.  Pixar is the studio that produced Toy Story, Wall-E, Finding Nemo, and Cars, 
Brave‘s storyline revolves around a female heroine who ventures from her Scottish kingdom, determined to carve her own path in life.
As an animated film, Brave required as much concentration on the art as on the plot that brings the film together.
During two research trips to Scotland, the Pixar crew primarily drew inspiration from many Scottish landscapes, including the Eilean Donan and Dunnottar Castles (from the 13th and 16th centuries, respectively) and the Callanish Standing Stones, the Scottish “Stonehenge,” on the Isle of Lewis.
